Important reason for creating this line was a stone quarry in Neufvilles. Products of this quarry could be transported to the region of Mons via Casteau, and to Brussel via Worries and Noir Jambon.

The part of the line from Neufvilles railway station to Neufvilles quarry was laid in 4 tracks, 1435 mm and 1000 mmm.
