Nivelles - Virginal / Braine l Alleud

In 1897 plans were made to create a line from Nivelles to Virginal with a branch line to Braine l Alleud. Plans came out to make this line electrified with 3 phase electricity. NMVB asked information, but it came out that it would be too expensive. Also enquiries to make the line with direct current electricity proved that it was too expensive. Therefore the NMVB decided to make the line with steam traction. For this line the NMVB itself was running the line.

Virginal - Rebecq / Braine le Comte

The first plan (in 1899) was to create a line from Virginal to Edingen over Braine le Comte. But the minister of state decided that that would give competition to the railway line and did nog give allowance. Two years later allowance was given, but the local communities were not interested, so NMVB decided to create only the part Virginal - Braine le Comte with a branch to Rebecq. A positive descision for this was made in 1903. For this branch the NMVB was running the line.
