Description

Because CFL often has international trains in the Saar-Lor-lux region, the board of the CFL decided in the year 2000 to order some diesellocs to make direct goods transportation possible. These locs should have the possibility to work independent of the currency of the different companies over the Luxemburg border.

The problem was, that manufacturers could not deliver in short time locs which could cope with these specifications. Therefore the CFL decided to lease 6 locs of Siemens for a period of three years. These locs were part of a delevery of 12 same locs, built in 1996 for Norway. But in that country (with steep gradients on the mountains, and with very cold weather in the winter) these locs didnot satisfy the NSB (Norwegian railways). After some years of trouble the NSB decided to give back the locs to Siemens.

After minor overhaul works, carried out in the repair shop of the DSB in Kopenhagen (Denmark) the locs were fit to be used in Luxemburg. From 17 may 2000 the locs were taken int regular service of the CFL. They ride mostly on the line Wasserillig-Luxemburg-Esch.

At first, the locs were leased for 3 years. In 2003, when the leasing should finish, the CFL planned to lease other locs of Dispoloc (Siemens). But as tests with these locs proved to be bad, at last there was decided to lease the same locs for another period of 3 years.

In 2003 the locs were sold from Siemens to Vossloh; the lease at CFL remains the same (now they are leased from Vossloh to CFL in stead of Siemens to CFL).

In 2005 the lease ended, and the locs returned to Germany.
