In 1950 the CFL ordered new light carriages, more simple as the De Dietrich motor coaches which had been in service for a few years. A lot of firms gave an option and it appeared that the Uerdingen railcar would be the most suit for the exploitation of the secondary lines in the country. The diesel-mechanic railbusses were delivered in 1951.
Only after a few years on 27-6-1955 an accident happened in Bissen, where the Z 155 was severely damaged. It had to be demolished. The CFL then ordered a new railcar. Delivery of the same type was no more possible, but as Uerdingen factory was busy delivering many railbuses for the German railways, it proved possible to quickly deliver one of that type of railbusses, it became the type Z 161 (see overthere).
The railbusses were in service on most secondary lines, the Attert line, the line from Kautenbach to Bastogne, and the line from Ettelbrück via Diekirch, Echternach to Wasserbillig.
When the secondary lines were closed in 1967, there was no more work for the small railbusses. Most of them went out of service in the years 1968 until 1970. One of the railbusses, the Z 151, was preserved and can be seen today in Fonds-de-Gras.
