In 1950 ten new railbusses of the type VT 95.911 came into exploitation. On 27-6-1955 an accident happened in Bissen where the Z155 was severely damaged; it had to be demolished. The CFL wanted replacement of the railbus, but the type was no more to be delivered. Uerdingen factory constructed in these years much railbusses of the type VT 95 for the German Railways. Because of that it was possible to deliver one of this type, it could be delivered in short time. The railbus Z 161 is larger than the other railbusses.
The railbus Z 161 was mostly in service on the line from Noertzange to Rumelange-Ottange. It was taken out of service in 1968, but remained available until 1973 as transport carriage for transports of materials between the repair shop and the depot in Luxemburg. By then it was demolished.
